After spending three years planning and researching the various subcontractors for our extensive kitchen remodel I feel that I totally scored in selecting Houtz Woodworks. Houtz Woodworks met my criteria that included QUALITY, EXPERIENCE, DEPENDABILITY,TIMING and of course a reasonable PRICE.
I first met Alan Houtz in his office for a brief consultation where we went over my budget and preliminary plans and sketches for the kitchen. Alan had some great suggestions and examples of options for me to consider, each time giving me a clear understanding of cost vs. savings.
Once in production, Alan kept me informed as to our upcoming install date, which was so helpful as we continued to coordinate with our other subcontractors. He was always very considerate of time sensitive issues related to these other contractors and worked well with the overall schedule.
Once our cabinets were ready to install his crew started early in the morning and worked full days until they were all in place and were so impressive with every last detail. Of course, putting NEW cabinetry into an OLD house came with the usual issues and surprises, such as uneven ceilings, and a few unexpected finish details that needed modifications – this is where EXPERIENCE really paid off, as they used creativity and skill to make it all look seamless and professionally finished.
Alan did several check-ups during the install process to keep on top of big and little details that all finished out perfectly.
Throughout the process I was delighted and excited to see my dream kitchen finally come alive! I am thrilled with the craftsmanship and quality of materials, the finished product is exquisite and I have to pinch myself every time I walk into my heavenly kitchen to remind me that I am not just imagining but really working in my dream kitchen.
I have and will enthusiastically recommend Houtz Woodworks to all my friends and acquaintances. I can rest assured that they will be just as satisfied and happy with their finished cabinetry as I am!

We love our new cabinets! Not only was the workmanship top notch, but the professionalism of Alan and his employees was exemplary. Alan refused to take payment until every last tidbit was completed. All of it was done in a timely fashion. The most impressive aspect was his ability to take my vision of what I wanted and improve it. I framed out a reading nook with a bench that I wanted to include storage, so I had Alan fashion a box to finish off the inside of the bench/storage. But then I needed a top with a lid. After seeing our new cabinets I decided to have Alan make the top for the bench. I told him what I wanted and in the end his execution of what I described was more beautiful and more solidly built then the picture I had in my mind. My wife and I couldn’t be happier.

A friend recommended Alan at Houtz Woodworks to us when we wanted to have a fireplace mantle and an island built for our home we are renovating.
We have recently had both installed and are absolutely amazed with the results. First, Alan came over and spent time with us talking through the plan so that we knew we were on the same page. I showed him several pictures and felt like he understood what look we were going for. He was able to take pieces of each picture and make it exactly into the pieces we had envisioned. Alan is knowledgable, efficient, and a pleasure to work with. Even when I was worried about part of the process and needed to double (and triple!) check things for my own sake, he was patient in answering my many questions. The craftsmanship is remarkable and the finished paint looks exactly how you'd want a custom piece to look - smooth and perfect. When there was a hiccup in the installation due to a measurement being just off, he took it back and had it fixed and repainted in a day. We could not be happier with the finish product and would recommend Houtz Woodworks to anyone.
